Biography

Sergey Volkov was born on November 21, 1955, outside St. Petersburg. He studied art at specialized art school and later in Mukhina Art Institute, which he graduated from in 1977 with a degree in design. He worked as designer at an industrial company and at the same time worked as an artist producing his individual art. Sergey perished on May 31, 1994.

Being a talented artist, Sergey proved to be a real master of intuitive pictorial improvisation. Using his favorite gouache, he obtained incredible results in exploring a unique expressive diapason of this technique.

However in his graphic cycles the artist was striving for the complete laconism and preciseness in the concordance of line and a meaning this line carries.

The artistic heritage of Sergey Volkov includes easel- painting, graphics, book illustrations, posters and design projects.
